Streaks that hold their shape. Miss a day. Drift, don't crash.
About Inertia
HOW IT WORKS
Most habit apps treat consistency as a binary streak — a tower of perfect days that collapses to zero the moment you miss one. For perfectionists, that's not motivating. It's demoralizing.
Inertia uses a different model. Every task carries a momentum value between 0 and 100%. Complete the task on a given day and momentum climbs toward 100, faster when it's low, slower as you approach the top. Miss a day and momentum decays a little — a few percent, not back to zero. The further you've built it up, the more it cushions the fall.
The math is simple: each completed day, momentum gains a fraction of the gap to 100. Each missed day, it retains most of what it had. You can tune both rates in the settings panel if you want the model more or less forgiving.
The result: a curve that rewards consistency without punishing imperfection. Skip a day and you'll drift, but you won't crash.
QUICK GUIDE
Tap the empty circle on a task to check it off for today. Tap any past dot in the strip to backfill a day you forgot to mark. Tap the chevron to expand a task and see its 90-day heatmap, day-of-week patterns, color, and cadence settings.
Tap anywhere else on a task card to focus its line in the chart above — useful when you want to read one task's trajectory without the others crowding in.
For habits that aren't daily (workouts 3×/week, language practice 5×/week), set the cadence inside the expanded view. Momentum only decays on days where you're below your weekly target.

Inertia model
0.15
How fast momentum climbs on a successful day. Higher = faster gains, but also faster losses feel relative.
0.92
Fraction of momentum kept after a missed day. 0.92 = lose 8% per miss. 0.99 = almost no decay (very forgiving). 0.70 = harsh.
